June 2009

This is PreserveMidtown’s video presentation of the infill problems in Midtown Tulsa including testimony from four Midtown residents who have spent thousands of dollars dealing with their problems caused by poor infill projects.  Their problems are continuing and hence the additional costs to them continue to increase.

This video was first presented to the Mayor’s Land Use Communication Task Force during their meeting sessions.

We also presented a Power Point Program which is available on our web site.

Up With Trees is sponsoring this new program to help all Tulsa County homeowners replace or add a new tree in their front yards.  This is an affordable way to replace one of your ice damaged trees and have help with planting it, if needed.

Environmentally, this is a very good action for all Tulsans.  The trees will provide much needed shade to reduce heat and will help clean the air of damaging carbons.  Keeping our air cleaner makes us all healthier.

Please go to the following site to access more information.

PreserveMidtown thinks this is a great program for Tulsa and many thanks to Up With Trees for sponsoring it.  We are very fortunate to have this organization in Tulsa.

The results of the Mayor’s 2009 Land Use Communication Task Force have been released.  Follow the link below to review.

The task force members worked very hard and spent much more time than expected with this project.  The results are some very easy and doable actions.  Some may take more time.  The Task Force also will reconvene in 45 days to insure that progress is being made and tasks are being completed.  This is very good news.  They have built in their own accountability.

PreserveMidtown is very supportive of this excellent work that has been completed.  We will be watching in the future to see that there are significant changes in the Land Use process to make it better for the public to be included in the development processes in a timely manner.  We applaud the Mayor and the Task Force members.

We welcome your comments on these recommendations.

There has not been a new comprehensive plan to guide Tulsa development in more than 30 years!  Our city desperately needs to look forward to where we want growth and development in our city now.  Our future success and economic progress will depend on this document.

When you go to the PlaniTulsa site, there will be ample information about each of the four plans available to you.  You will be able to access the information you need to evaluate each of the four options.

Please consider this a very important civic duty to help plan Tulsa’s future.

We at PreserveMidtown take this process very seriously and endorse everyone’s participation in this last public planning step.  Please join us in this most important effort for Tulsa’s future.
